Please Get Your Treatment from a Board Certified Practitioner of Acupuncture
The standards for the practice of acupuncture vary from state to state. In many states, chiropractors, medical doctors, dentists, podiatrists and physical therapists are allowed to give acupuncture treatments after taking a short, 40-hour, overview course.
In order to become a licensed acupuncturist (L.Ac.) with the State of Colorado, one must graduate from an accredited masters or doctoral program in Oriental medicine and pass the National board exams given by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). These exams also include Western bio-medicine. In addition, 60 hours of continuing education is required every four years to continue to be certified by NCCAOM. For more information about the standards of the NCCAOM, please visit www.nccaom.org.
